New Chamberlain Park shared path locked in for Albert-Eden transport upgrade

Mount Albert is getting a new shared path through Chamberlain Park, linking into the North Western cycleway, as part of a $3.2 million package of transport upgrades planned for the Albert-Eden area between 2026 and 2029, according to Auckland Council.
What’s planned for the path
The shared path will begin at Rawalpindi Reserve and run through Chamberlain Park before connecting to the North Western cycleway, giving people walking and cycling in the area a more direct link to one of Auckland’s main off-road cycle routes.
Part of a bigger local package
The Chamberlain Park route is one piece of a wider $3.2 million transport investment earmarked for the Albert-Eden local board area over the next three years. For residents around Mount Albert, the new connection means a car-free option for reaching the North Western cycleway without having to navigate the surrounding road network, an option that doesn’t currently exist through the park.
Further details on the remaining projects within the $3.2 million programme, along with construction timing for the Chamberlain Park section, have not yet been released.
