Four Henderson-Massey libraries to change opening hours from October

Auckland Council says opening hours at four libraries and community hubs in the Henderson-Massey area will change from 10 October, a move it says is intended to better match how often people actually visit and when they need the services most.
Te Atatū Peninsula Library is one of the sites affected, and will be extending its hours under the new schedule. The council has not detailed the exact new hours for Te Atatū Peninsula or the other three libraries involved in the change, but says the adjustments across all four sites are being made in response to community demand and observed visiting patterns.
What’s driving the change
Libraries have increasingly become more than just book-lending services, often doubling as community hubs where people attend events, access free Wi-Fi and computers, or simply have somewhere to spend time during the day. Adjusting hours to reflect when people are actually turning up is a practical way for the council to make sure the facilities are staffed and open when they’re needed, rather than during quieter periods.
