Onehunga Toy Library Offers Budget-Friendly Way to Play

According to Auckland Council, the Onehunga Toy Library is a not-for-profit, volunteer-run service catering for children from around six months up to eight years old.
What's on offer
Members of the toy library can borrow from a wide selection of quality toys, ride-ons, dress-ups, games, and puzzles. Rather than buying new toys that children quickly outgrow or lose interest in, families can borrow items for a period before swapping them for something new.
The council describes the service as a budget-friendly and sustainable way to keep children entertained, giving parents and caregivers access to a rotating range of play items without the ongoing cost of purchasing new toys.
Who it's for
The toy library is aimed squarely at families with young children, from babies around six months old through to primary-school-aged children up to eight years old. Given the age range covered, it offers something for children at very different stages of development, from early sensory toys through to games and puzzles suited to older children.
As a volunteer-run, not-for-profit operation, the toy library relies on community involvement to keep running, offering local families in the Onehunga area an alternative to buying toys outright.
